Over ten years ago, one day I saw in my night dream the opening of a lovely coffee shop with what I called the wind of Koguryo that represented energies that had built a new dynasty in ancient times. I became greatly animated and excited at heart. Since then I tried to make this dream happen in reality. At first, I looked for a suitable place in Korea or China but my expectation was never met and by chance I was guided to come to Kyoto and encountered an ideal spot at Yasaka, historically known as the part of the ancient capital city, Kyoto inhabited by my ancestors. I always felt the presence of their souls, who had lived there, and finally I came to open the Koma Gallery Café in the new year of 2009, true to my vision and the original meaning of Koma. I believe that the richness at our internality is the key to open up a marvelous future and make our society truly human and peaceful, so every exhibit, space design and atmosphere here are created so that our guest will encounter a brilliantly shining light within one s life as one s innate and precious bearing for tomorrow. The photo panels installed on the walls are taken from historic lands of Koguryo s dynasty or places related to Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered concert activities undertaken by NPO KOMA and all of them were photographed by Master Idaki Shin. Art objects, paintings, textile works and calligraphies were mainly created by myself under the theme of Mind-Scape, capturing what I call  light-scape that I envisioned within my internality, while on the second floor, there was a corner exhibiting objects excavated from ancient Koguryo s ruins. All the music played in our space was created by Master Idaki Shin and our coffee, Andromeda Ethiopia and Gomata Suji Kilimanjaro coffee, were directly imported from Africa by NPO KOMA and were roasted in Japan with the Idaki Shin sound system, that was custom designed to play special music by Master Idaki Shin at the roasting factory for making our coffee fully charged with cosmic and dynamic energies. I sincerely wish that under the ancient Yasaka tower, you will be able to enrich your own life and enjoy for a while an endless world of souls and the vast universal space, accompanied by our art works and original coffee, etc.
